FIELD GROWN CEDARS
As its name implies, cedar trees are grown and harvested from a field
Pros:
Most common and easiest form of growing and maintaining
Produces the biggest trees
Cons:
Tree subject to higher degree of transplant shock if dug improperly
CONTAINER GROWN CEDARS
Cedar trees are grown in a pot or a container of various sizes (4” liners to 15-20gal containers)
Pros:
Safest method of planting
Little to no transplant shock as roots are never cut
Easier to handle/plant
Cons:
Sizes limited by container
Not suitable for growing larger sized trees (ie. 7’ +)
Tree’s may become ‘root bound’ if grown too long in pots
